Deeply committed to philanthropy and education, Charles has served as a board member of the Detroit Urban League and as Chairman of the Palabora Foundation in South Africa. A devout Roman Catholic, he has been affiliated with St. Meinrad Archabbey in Indiana since 1997 and attended Padre Pio’s canonization in Rome in 2002.
Charles holds degrees from North Carolina Central University (Durham, NC) and the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). He also earned an Advanced Board Diploma from the Financial Times (FT) Non-Executive Director Program in London, UK. In addition, he successfully completed all examinations for the Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) program.
A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Charles combines deep financial expertise with a global perspective. He and his wife, Rosiland, were married in 1990 in Maryland, where they continue to reside with their five children.
